My name is Anna Martin and I’m from Charlotte, North Carolina. My interest in the arts formed when I was very young. While many of my friends attended a neighborhood middle school, I was drawn to Northwest School of the Arts, where I was exposed to a broad cross-section of the arts. I studied piano, dance, and choir, but I excelled at the visual arts. In the eighth grade, I was inadvertently placed into an arts major class. At first, I was hesitant towards this class, but the teacher drew my interest. This quickly became my favorite class and, my teacher inspired me to continue art throughout high school. It was there where I became much more passionate about the arts and became heavily involved in the art department, even serving as president of the street art club.
During my senior year of high school, the teacher from my middle school transferred schools and taught my AP Art class. He became my mentor and inspiration to continue as an artist. I decided to continue pursuing my passion in college. I am currently a student at North Carolina State University; I am studying art and design with a concentration in animation and interactive media. In the future, I hope to work as an animator. Make sure to take a look at my portfolio page and see what I can do!
