LAND OF THE HARDIN

All about NCSU's best student eva!

Welcome to my Homework number six. My name is Ben Hardin and I am a student at North Carolina State University. I intend to major in Chemical Engineering with a focus on Biomanufacturing. I chose Chemical Engineering because I really like chemistry and I love problem solving. I have also always been interested in biology (particularly bacteria), which is why I am looking into a Biomanufacturing concentration. Biomanufacturing uses bacteria, plants, and other living systems to produce a needed substances on a massive scale. I hope to help in using bacteria to create medicines that are cheaper and safer.

Fun fact about me I love to swim. I started swimming in the third grade and I've never stopped. My favorite stroke is backstroke, but I also like swimming the IM. I knew I wanted to continue swimming in college, but I didnt want the presure of varsity. Because of this, I joined club swimming and I love it. The people are a lot of fun and it's a great workout. Not only do they love swimming, but they also volunteer, go to restaurants, and have lots of socials.

Here is a recipe for my favorite way to make pizza.

  1. Make the crust: Combine 2.5 tsps of Yeast with 1 cup of warm water and a tsp of sugar. Stir and let it sit for 5 minutes. Add 2.5 cups of flour, 1 tsp of salt and 2 Tbsp of Olive Oil. Let rise for 30 minutes. Pound it back down and roll into a 1/2 inch crust.
  2. Preheat your grill (yes your grill) to 350 F. Oil one side of the dough and place that side directly on the grill. Oil the other side and close the grill. Wait 8-10 minutes. Using a large spatulla flip the pizza carefully.
  3. Quickly coat the dough with sauce, cheese, veggies, and cooked meat. Do this very quickly to prevent burning of the other side. Close the grill and wait till cheese is melted.
  4. Slide off the grill with care. Cut pieces, serve, and enjoy.

Below are my expected class grades for my 1st semester classes.
