A Little Bit About Me

Hello, my name is Casey Sarles. I am currently a freshman here at North Carolina State University. I am pursuing a double major in Secondary Mathematics Education and Mathematics. I chose this double major for several reasons. First of all, I love math. Math has always been an easy concept for me to grasp and I enjoy trying to figure out problems. Second, I love to teach. I taught gymnastics for three years before I came down here to State. I absolutely loved it, it's rewarding to see your students accomplish skills they have been working on. I love getting to know each individual student because they are all very unique and each one can bring something special to the class. I can't wait to go back home and hopefully teach during my breaks!

My favorite break from school was my trip to Nationals over summer break in 2009. My mom and I flew to California which was quite an experience. We ended up with a three hour layover in LAX airport. Now, there is not much there, but we were able to find some lunch, at 9:00am. (We were still stuck on New York time!). Nationals went really well, it was so much fun spending time with my teammates. My teammates and coaches are always great to spend time with, they can always make me laugh! The competition went very well. I placed 1st in the All Around competition as well as 1st in Vault, Uneven Bars, and Floor Finals! It was really rewarding to see all my hard work pay off at a large competition like Nationals!
