Libby Pelt's Resume'

Picture of Libby Pelt

I am studying Chemical Engineering with a minor in Biomanufacturing Sciences at North Carolina State University. I transferred to NC State from the University of Pittsburgh, where I was part of the First Year Engineering program. My expected graduation from NC State is Spring 2019.

Future Goals

I chose Chemical Engineering because I have always been drawn towards STEM fields, and I knew I wanted to be some type of engineer because I have always loved problem solving. I chose ChemE in particular because I prefer chemistry and biology over physics, and because I love the diversity of the field. I hope with the addition of my minor in Biomanufacturing Sciences that I will be able to work in the pharmaceutical industry and to help engineer better medicines. New diseases are constantly appearing, and combined with the ever-increasing problem of drug resistance, this has created a growing need for more effective and more efficient medicines, without forgetting about the constant safety concerns of powerful drugs. I hope to be able to help solve this problem.
