Salutations. My name is Liz Shirley and I'm a Zoology senior at NC State. I volunteer at the Piedmont Wildlife Center, a place you can bring any injured or orphaned NC wildlife you come across. This summer I helped to raise baby birds, medicate patients and I transported a couple of animals. Since I am a pre-Vet student it makes sense for me to work there, and I get a lot of enjoyment from helping people and wildlife. I also like art and I dabble in new projects from time to time. My boyfriend is into music, and is part of Wolfgang A Cappella at NCSU.

This summer I interned at a pair of horse farms, Rougemont Sport Horses and Hidden Hill Farm. I worked mostly with Hanoverian and Oldenburg horses, and my job entailed everything from feeding to transporting horses to filming horse performance and computerizing care records. I got a lot of great experiences and some veterinary knowledge, but I think I prefer small animals.
