Hi, my name is Eli. I am a Sophomore in Mechanical Engineering. I chose Mechanical Engineering because it is a very broad field with diverse applications, and I'm interested in a wide variety of technology.

I enjoy blacksmithing as a hobby. Last year, I built a forge in my backyard. A simple forge consists merely of a fireproof container with which to contain a fire, with an aperture in the bottom from which forced air may enter and feed the fire. A simple steel washtub, filled with a clay liner, and provided with a horizontal pipe at the bottom with several holes drilled along its length from which air may enter will suffice quite well as a forge for a beginner to this hobby. I myself have only practised rudimentary ironworking techniques; the most intricate of my creations thus far has been a set of tongs, forged from steel reinforcement bar, with which to grasp other hot pieces of metal.
