Homework 5a

My name is Emily Sharp and I am a recent transfer student from UNC Charlotte.
In terms of credits, I will be a senior next semester. However, I am only a beginning
sophomore in terms of my major. Over the past four years I have bounced around
between majors: electrical and computer engineering, to applied and engineering physics,
to physics, and now computer science. I chose computer science because I have a passion
for technology, and enjoy solving puzzles in both coding and logic.

When I was in the seventh grade, my family and I took a three week trip to Australia during
Spring break. After 17 hours of sitting on airplanes, we landed in Sydney and visited the
Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, botanical gardens, and the 1,014-foot AMP tower. Next we
spent two days traveling along the Great Ocean Road, a long, picturesque highway that follows
the southeast coastline. Then we flew to the Australian Outback and saw the famous Ayers
Rock: a bright red sandstone mound that towers at 1,142 ft with a 6-mile circumference.
I was able to ride a camel into the desert at sunset, and watched the stars come out.
It was amazing to look up into the sky and not recognize any of the Southern-hemisphere
constellations. Our last stop was the city of Cairns on the northeastern coast, where we
took a cable car up into the dense rainforest and snorkeled at the Great Barrier Reef.
It by far was the most amazing trip I have ever taken.
