I worked on an interdisciplinary team -- developing a management plan for the 1222 acre Harris Tract located in southern Wake County and leased by NC State University's School of Forestry from Carolina Power & Light (CP&L). The management plan entailed a historical/archeological examination of the tract (done by Scott Bode) coupled with a detailed analysis of the botanical community.

I am conducting the botanical community analysis with the goal of providing documentation and restoration recommendations for the rare Piedmont Transitional Longleaf Pine Community (PTLC) (Pinus palustris) found on the Harris Tract.

The botanical data will be included in the on going joint effort between the NC Heritage Program and the NC Nature Conservacy to survey the plant communities of North Carolina.
