Regulatory/Business Law

Course

Regulatory/Business Law is an introductory course the covers the major statutes regulating business with some policy discussion of the economic costs and benefits of current regulations and proposals for reform. A general introduction to the judicial system, environmental law, securities law, employment law, and product safety. Discussions of contract law, property law, criminal law and tort law. Ethical business conduct is discussed throughout the course.

Outline

Regulatory/Business Law is a survey course of the areas of the law that affect business. When this course is completed, students should have a working knowledge of such areas as contracts, tort law, property law, anti-trust law, securities regulation, pollution control, debtor and worker protection, and various other areas studied in this course. The course is broken down into three (3) different parts:

  • Part 1 - Judicial System, Criminal Law & Tort Law
  • Part 2 - Consumer Protection, Anti-Trust, Security Regulations, Workplace Discrimination, Labor Law, Personal Property & Real Estate
  • Part 3 - Contracts Law
