Welcome to the Machine

My name is John William Mayo, but my mother calls me Will. I am a first year engineer with intent for a dual degree in Paper Science Engineering and Chemical Engineering. I came about this major by visiting my friend, David, last year; he showed me around the PSE building, and I was quite intrigued by the program. The next week, I visited a paper mill near my home town, and the recruiter recognized me from my visit the week before. The friendliness of the people coupled with the prospect of significant professional development was enough to seal the deal for me.

A more recent hobby of mine is boxing. I took it up when I got to school, in hopes of finding a new method for staying in shape. I not only found this method, but I also quite enjoy the escape from thinking too much about what needs to be done. Boxing requires an immense amount of focus to maintain form and speed simultaneously, and this focus distracts from the other processes in my brain. I am definitely glad I took up boxing.
