Hello and welcome to my website.

My name is Matthew Sutterby, and I am a Freshman at North Carolina State University. I am a first year engineering student that is considering mechanical engineering as a major. Mechanical engineering interests me as a major because it requires being the jack of all engineering trades and the understanding of complex machinery systems. With the necessity of comprehending complex machinery, mechanical engineering will grant me the satisfaction of a childhood obsession of taking things apart to see how they tick. I participated in an apprenticeship my senior year of high school at an Energizer plant in Asheboro, NC. It was a geat hands-on experience and was very enjoyable. Hopefully I can CODA into mechanical engineering, and I will be able to do what I experienced for the rest of my life.

My favorite hobby is not so much a hobby but just a constant state of athleticism and sports. Ever since I was little, I have constantly been exposed to sports and outdoor activities. Although I have played many sports, including football, basketball, baseball, tennis, etc., my one and only favorite is soccer. Until I arrived in college, my entire life revolved around my school work and eating, breathing, and living soccer. Every day was devoted to training or playing soccer all year round. I could have gone to any D2 school for a soccer scholarship, but I decided that I needed to devote more time to my advancement in education at one of the most prestigious engineering schools in the world rather than continue playing soccer at a competitive level. Soccer will still remain an integral part of my life as I move forward, but I will devote more of my time to my school work and building lasting relationships with new friends.
