All About Manon

My name is Manon MacAllister, and I came to NCSU with a Chemical Engineering intent. After attending several departmental workshops, I have actually decided to change my major to Paper Science and Engineering in order to earn two bachelor of science degrees: one in Paper Science and Engineering and another in Chemical Engineering. This will make me more attractive to potential employers, and the program has had an exceptionally high hiring rate of their seniors for the last sixty years. I am attracted to the small class size (around thirty-five students total), and I love the idea of constant hands-on laboratory experience. Also, the average $68,000 starting salary is not too shabby either.

Contrary to popular belief, freshman engineers do have some time to dedicate to the hobbies that they enjoy. Personally, I love to sculpt, so I have taken up refuge in the Craft Center. When I was in high school I was very involved in my school's visual arts program, and I submitted pieces to several national competitions. My love for wire sculpture and glass work has followed me to college, and I'm blessed to be at a school where I can still exercise my creative side. Though my resources are limited, I am more than happy to work with what I'm given.
