Holla!

I'm Mariko Rose Martin; student, AEO Stylist , future engineer. I am a freshman at North Carolina State University studying Industrial Engineering. Go Pack! I decided I was interested in Industrial Engineering after I attended my third engineering camp last summer at North Carolina State University. I really like that Industrial Engineering is not just focused in one area. Industrial engineers basically improve people's lives through system management and efficiency, and even by considering ergonomics. Although Industrial Engineering is numero uno on my list of possible majors, I think Textile Engineering would be pretty swell as well. The first engineering camp I did showed us the applications of Textile Engineering in the medical field, and I thought that was awesome.

My favorite place to vacation is England because they have loads and loads of tea and crumpets! (I've actually never had a crumpet in England, only in the US.) I also enjoy going to the castles and using all the busses, trains, and taxis. Last time I went to England, I rode the London Eye! It was quite beautiful to see Big Ben. I also enjoy visiting my family while I am in London. I have a large family and it can get very busy at times, especially because they are all crazy, but it is still enjoyable, for the most part.

The people that I stay with in England have a cat, and I have a cat, but I think dogs are cool too! I dont mind dogs as long as they aren't gross and bark all the time. But if I had to choose between a cat, or a dog, I'd pick a dolphin because dolphins are smart and can swim. Did you know that baby dolphins are born tail-first to prevent drowning. Also, dolphins do not breathe automatically as humans do and will die if given a general anesthetic. They must sleep at the surface of the water with their blowholes exposed. Dolphins shut down only half of their brain while they sleep to stay alert and breathing. I don't see cats and dogs being that awesome.

Avocadoooooo!

  1. Toast one slice of bread, on lowest setting. (repeat 2x)
  2. Using only half an avocado, cut into thin slices. (as many as desired)
  3. Place avocado slices on thrice toasted bread.
  4. Pour approx. 1T extra virgin olive oil over avocado slices on toast.
  5. Add 0.5tsp - 1tsp of hot sauce to the toast with avocado. (trust me.)
  6. Sprinkle some salt and pepper as desired.
  7. Close eyes and take a big bite!
