Welcome to Matthew Traenkle's About Me page!

Hello! My name is Matthew Traenkle and I am a current freshman at NC State University. I am in the College of Engineering and am majoring in Chemical Engineering. In addition, I am planning to double major in Biomedical or Textile Engineering. I want to pursue a degree in engineering to be able to apply my knowledge and skills to the solution of problems that face humans in their everyday lives. Specifically, I enjoy Chemistry and would like to either work in the Pharmaceutical industry or Energy industry.

I currently work for the Smithsonian Institution at the National Air and Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Center. At the museum, I am an Explainer in the Explainers Program. As an Explainer, my job is to teach and instruct visitors about science and engineering principles behind some of our artifacts and foster an interest in STEM for youth. We conduct interactive lessons and demonstrations, most of which are targeted for younger visitors.
