"Creativity is intelligence having fun"

Albert Einstein

Creation: May 24, 2012

This piece was done for ADN-219 Digital Imaging class. It was inspired by cubist works like Picasso's and the Cubist-inspired works of David Hockney. The objective of this project was to develop compositional skills, learn to appreciate the visual aspects of one's surroundings and continue the development of their sense of composition. I used photoshop and 224 different pictures taken by me at different times of the day.

Creation: April 26, 2012

This project was done for my ADN 111-Two Dimensional Design class. I had to create a Mixed-Media Composition (photography, collage, linoleum printing, paper weaving, drawing or painting) based on the idea of time using the Design Process. Since time is a broad concept that can be perceived in many different ways I found an approach that is well suited to my personal interests accompanied with some research to inform my conceptual ideation. The concept that I conveyed in the project was “Time in Tennis through psychology, being able to stop the time in a big moment and stay with it”

Insecto Exotico

Creation: June 5, 2012

This project was done for ADN 219 Digital Imaging class. It represents my perception of an insect; shape, color and texture basing my ideas in a model. Photoshop and Illustrator were the programs that I used to do the project.

The Research Triangle's Pop Culture Logo

Creation: July 25, 2012

This project was done for ADN 219 Digital Imaging class. The objective of this project was to create a logo that would represent the "pop culture" of the Research Triangle. It was design in a certain way so that society can feel identified with it. It represents art, history, freedom, variety and joy. Reasonable diligence was taken to ensure that the logo is accurate and has a high-quality appearance at the same time. The programs that I used for this project were Photoshop and Illustrator.

Nicole Martinez

Creation: May 31, 2012

This piece was created for ADN 219 Digital Imaging class. It is a self-portrait in the Arcimboldo tradition; his portraits of human heads made up of vegetables, fruit and tree roots, were greatly admired and they still remain a source of fascination today. I used Photoshop and Illustrator for this piece (layer masks, vector masks and clipping paths)and some photos taken by me while some others were taken from the internet.

The Urban Living 3.0

Creation: June 7, 2012

This project was done for ADN 219-Digital Imaging class. The objective of this piece was to create an isometric space as an editorial illustration assignment for a mock client, The New Yorker Magazine. The theme is the Urban Living 3.0; the city life with all the new social computing culture we have or soon to have. It was done in Illustrator accompanied by some raster graphics in the piece.

Figure and Ground

Creation: January 26, 2012

This project was done for ADN 111-Two Dimensional Design class. The goal was to create designs (planned arrangements of visual elements that construct an organized visual pattern) in which I completely eliminated the distinction between figure and ground (creating equivocal space). To achieve this result, the positive shapes and negative space needed to be evnly distributed and completely balanced. I had to be mindful of the way in which I was going to crop shapes, activate the borders of the composition and the relationships between juxtaposed shapes (creatin implied lines).

Creation: September 14, 2012

This drawing was done for Design Thinking class. It represents my definition of creativity; it is inherent; a talent, a gift, something unique that not everyone has. The way we express creative ideas in design is the most important aspect in this relationship because design is a way of communication and designers are in charge to communicate those ideas to society. What motivates me to be creative in studying architecture are the challenges that I would have to face every day and being able to work on my own ideas and give my creativity a purpose and an outlet.

Las Creadoras de mi Destino

Creation: May 23, 2012

Free drawing. This piece was created during summer, when I decided that I wanted to apply again for the architecture program. People say that hands represent one's personality My hands are rough hands; small, with wide palms and little fingers. I'm a sensitive individual but my hands were made to work hard and they are prepared to face great difficulties in life, that's why I called the piece "Las Creadoras de mi Destino", because in that moment I was started to create a path, a new journey for life, a new story.

Un Nuevo Comienzo

Creation: October 29, 2012

Free drawing. This piece was created through a memory and it represents tranquility, peace, happines, emotion and intrigue. Sunrise is the entire process of the sun crossing the horizon. It happens every day and that reminds me that every day is a new day where new opportunities and experiences appear.

"Design is our own vision of the world to create new worlds"
