A little about me

My name is Peter McClarnon, and I am a freshman in the first year engineering program. I have an aerospace engineering intent, mainly because at the time that is what most interests me. I have always been amazed by planes and any other objects that we are able to launch into the air and then control how they move, especially the space crafts. I also have an interest in getting my pilot's license one day. However, other engineering fields grab my attention, such as biomedical and materials science.

My favorite break from school would have to be summer break. Mainly because it is the longest break, but also for other reasons. One big reason is because I am able to spend a lot of time up at our small little lake house up at Lake Gaston. We like to fish, boat, jet-ski, grill, and everything else up there. It is nice to just get away from the crowded areas of Chapel Hill and Raleigh and go up there where you can just lay out in the sun for as long as your sun screen can handle.

I love March Madness. I usually make about three to five brackets, including scenarios I think will happen and scenarios I would like to see happen. I end up watching about 20 hours of basketball during the first two rounds then I do my best to watch all the rest of the games from then on. The intensity and drama that comes with the tournament is like none other. I am going to miss these couple of weeks once it's over, but it has been and should still be fun as long as it lasts.

How to make the best sandwich ever. Enjoy
  1. Gather ingredients including, but not limited to, bread (preferably a sub bun), turkey, ham, salami, cheese (whatever your preference, mine being provolone for this sandwich), and some mayonnaise.
  2. Open the bread (sub bun) and layer the meat onto one piece of the bread, with the provolone both in the middle of some layers of meat as well as on the top.
  3. Slap that plate (which the bread should be on by now) into the microwave, and heat it up for about 30 seconds, enough to get the cheese melting, but not too much to destroy the bun.
  4. Remove the plate from the microwave (it could burn you, please be careful, or just use the force) and set down wherever you may be eating.
  5. Pour yourself a glass of Maple View chocolate milk (other brands may suffice).
  6. Devour the sandwich and wash it down with that glass of creamy chocolate milk. Oh, and enjoy.
