Welcome to my page!

Hi, my name is Rachel Fellman. I am currently a freshman at NC State. I am in the first year engineering program but plan to CODA at the end of the semester into Biological Engineering. I am interested in this major because of the ecological engineering concentration offered, which focuses on sustainability and the environment, two things I am very passionate about.

For the past few summers I have worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Levine JCC in Charlotte, NC. This is a full time job in which I worked 40 hours per week, usually 25 teaching swim lessons and 15 lifeguarding. I taught children, ages 3 to 11, the basics of water safety as well as the correct form for the following strokes; freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke, as well as diving. The most difficult part of this job was the communication. I had to communicate with parents, children, camp counselors, other instructors, my bosses, and the other lifeguards on duty in order for everything to run smoothly.
