It Is

ALWAYS

Well I had a gun to my head

My name is Richard Taylor, and I don't know what year I am at State. Actually, it is difficult to pin down. I am a transfer student, and currently I have over 90 credit hours which makes me a Junior. However, I will not graduate until Spring 2013; which makes me a first semester Sophmore. (How fun!) I am enrolled in a double major here at State. My first degree is in Chemical Oceanography with a Geology Minor and my second degree is Biological Oceanography with a Biology Minor. Yeah it's a lot. I chose these because I have been intrigued by the ocean since I was about 5 and have put lots of energy into studying it over the past 25 years. The last frontier.

I am not sure what my favorite break from school would be. Perhaps it would be just this past summer, 2010; I worked for Dr. Showers, from PAMS, this summer on his Rivernet project. I helped him and his graduate students with a variety of field and lab experiments. We mapped nutrient profiles in both Jordan and Falls Lake, and we kayaked in the Cape Fear River Basin to survey water quality. I also got to do some fun chemistry, like using a mass spectrometer.
