Susanna Michele Lee

Susanna Michele Lee teaches and researches the Civil War and Reconstruction, the American South, and nineteenth-century America. Lee received her Ph.D in History from the University of Virginia in 2005. She has taught at the University of Virginia, UNC Greensboro, and Wake Forest University and has been teaching at North Carolina State University since 2006. She previously served as project manager for the Valley of the Shadow: Two Communities in the American Civil War through the Virginia Center for Digital History. She has also consulted on museum exhibitions at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and the Greensboro Historical Museum. Her current research projects include two book manuscripts: one on post-Civil War southern citizenship and another on the Virginia homefront during the Civil War.
