My Major at N.C. State University

I am currently a freshman at N.C. State University. I intend to CODA into the Chemical Engineering/Paper Science and Engineering dual degree program after this school year, placing me into both the College of Engineering and the College of Natural Resources. This program allows me to complete a full BS in both programs with only one extra semester. However, I plan on pursuing co-ops and study abroad opportunities, so I expect to graduate after the end of the 2021 school year.

Why PSE/ChE?

I always knew that I wanted to pursue a career where I could work with my hands, see the results of my work first-hand, and most importantly never become bored or dissatisfied with my job. Naturally, these desires led me to pursue engineering, specifically Chemical Engineering as I deeply enjoyed the subject matter in my pre-collegiate education. However, even after accepting enrollment at NCSU for solely Chemical Engineering, I found myself introduced to the PSE program through the dual-degree scholarship offer, and after some investigation, I decided to sign on with the program. This has been a fantastic decision on my part as I already have been introduced into the field and have already landed a summer internship with Westrock, an American paper company. As I continue with this major, I intend to continuously seek out new and exciting work and academic opportunities, and eventually find myself in a career after college that I truly love and enjoy showing up to every morning, in a field where I can have a positive impact on the world around me.
