Welcome to the Crafty ChemE: Where Science and Creativity Meet!

Hi! My name is Natalie and I am currently in the Engineering First Year program, with an intended major of Chemical Engineering. I've always known that I wanted to be an engineer because my dad was an engineer, and where I am from, there is a National Lab that employs thousands of engineers! As I grew older I found that I really like to help people, especially in a medical sense. So after doing some research, I found that I was really interested in drug research, design, and development. I originally thought that this meant biomedical engineering would be the place for me, but soon found that chemical engineering was the way to go! It also helped that my dad is a chemical engineer and my sister is a biochemist!

My favorite hobby is pretty much anything that involves crafting! I love to sew and quilt, and it is something that I can do to spend time with my mom and my sister. Quilting is something that I really enjoy because it is more than just making a blanket, you can make purses or cosmetic bags and so much more. I also really like to paint canvases and mugs. One of my favorite things to do with this hobby is turn crafts into something fun AND educational! I try really hard to find science-related crafts that I can do, not only to entertain myself, but also to do with the kids I babysit!
