I am currently a first-year engineering student at North Carolina State University. My intended major is Computer Science with a concentration in Game Development. Also, I plan to graduate in May 2020.
Computer Science has many applications, but the subfield I am most interested in is Virtual Reality Development. I specifically want to use VR for applications relating to psychology. VR has a lot of potential as a device for administering therapy to a patient as well as a platform for games that raise awareness of mental illness, simply because its immersive nature makes it seem more real to the player and thus can have a stronger effect on the user's thoughts and feelings. Both NC State and Computer Science allow me the opportunity to explore the possible applications of VR while I'm here so that I will be best prepared to make my contribution to this field in the real world.
